My name is Sharon Keith. I have been a school counselor for 20 years, with eleven years experience at the elementary level. I am excited to be a part of West Rusk Elementary, and I am looking forward to a great year.
When counseling students, I practice Cognitive-Behavior therapy, which explores the relationships between an individual's thoughts, feelings, and behavior. My goal is to teach students to change their behavior by changing their attitudes and outlook. In other words, individuals can't control what happens to them, but they can learn to control the way they deal with their situation and problems.

Individual Counseling: If you feel your child needs to meet with the counselor on a regular basis, contact the WR Elementary office (903-392-7857) and request a Counseling Consent Form.
Classroom Guidance: I will meet with students in their classrooms once or twice a month teaching guidance lessons. The curriculum we use is from the Jesse Lewis Choose Love Foundation. This organization is committed to reaching students, educators, and individuals with a simple yet profound formula for choosing love.
